Hypnosis Can Improve Your Life

Most of us strive for self improvement or at least those of us who take the time to stop and thin about it. Thinking about it is the key because improvement begins in your mind. The way we think about ourselves and our lives actually will affect our actions.

If we want to be successful, we first have to make a plan. Usually in order to achieve certain things there are steps we have to take to make it happen. First we have to decide what we want. And then start taking steps to achieve that. Usually the easiest way to do this is to break it into smaller tasks. This is where having goals comes into play.

But in order to begin taking action and working towards our goals we have to think about them. Not only think about them. But also believe we deserve these things and can achieve them. If we are wallowing in self doubt and don’t really believe we can achieve the things we want we won’t achieve them.

That’s why mind-set is so important for creating a life plan and figuring out the steps we need to accomplish to get what we want. Sometimes making things happen is just as easy as changing the way we think about things. People who eliminate self doubt and negative self talk, soon start to notice things falling into place.

To change your way of thinking is easy. Whenever you catch yourself thinking thoughts that are destructive to your well being and self image, just stop and change them to more encouraging positive thoughts. There you go problem solved.

For those of us who need a little more help. There are a myriad of tools out there to help us. One of my favorites are CD’s and mp3s that are encouraging, there are many hypnotism and positive thought materials out there that will help you to change your mindset for the better.

As far as hypnotism goes, you won’t do anything you wouldn’t normally do. So it won’t turn you into someone else or a hypnitized robot zombie. But, it may help you to think positive thoughts and have a mind set where you will achieve a positive outcome.

There are many expensive programs out there. But, I would suggest just getting a sample or downloading an inexpensive mp3. That way you can decide what works for you and which programs are useful before investing a lot of money.

Nintendo DS Brain Games

Can a video game system actually make you smarter? It can if you are playing any of the Nintendo DS brain games.

This handheld video game system boasts a unique set of brain-boosting games. Designed to be more than simple tests of hand-eye coordination, the Nintendo DS brain games test players’ brain power.

One of the more popular of these games is Brain Age. This game’s subtitle spells out exactly what’s in store for players: “Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day.”

The makers of the game claim that Brain Age will make your feel mentally fresh and sharp. The goal is to encourage players to use the knowledge they already have to solve a series of mental problems.

Brain Age players complete a series of simple tasks each day. The game then stores their performance information in a profile. Players can convert this information into a series a graphs that tell them how well they’ve been performing.

Brain Age also includes an overage mental test that calculates your “brain age.” The best score players can receive is a 20.

Of course, Brain Age is just one of the many Nintendo DS brain games available. Players can also choose Ultimate Brain Games. This game is a compilation of classic mental games. Ultimate Brain Games includes chess, checkers, backgammon, mahjong and several other games that stress strategy and brain power over quick reflexes.

Players might also go with Brain Challenge, a game that features five mini-games that each measures a specific area of cognition, such as logic, memory, visual and focus.

Brain Challenge also lets players track their progress. Players might start out ranked as a “Future Genius” but end up as a real-life genius.

Finally, there’s the fairly addictive Big Brain Academy. As with other games in this genre, Big Brain Academy comes with a series of mini-games designed to test the mental prowess of players. The game ends with a bigger test that measures the overall cognitive ability of players.

Big Brain Academy includes 15 different mini-games and three levels of play. It’s a relatively inexpensive game, too.

Brain games may not be quite as much fun as blasting asteroids or hunting down digitized zombies. But for those who want their game system to build their thinking muscles, the Nintendo DS brain games are a good way to pass an hour or two.

Exercises Increase Brain Power

There are hundreds of things that can be done in order to increase brain power and make yourself more productive, more energetic, and able to better understand and handle everyday challenges.

Brain power exercises come in even the most surprising actions. Anything that causes you to think and consider outside of the usual range of your efforts can be constituted as a brain flexor. Doing simple math while you stand in line at the bank or making a point to read every flyer you pass when you’re at the mall can improve the output of your brain.

Memory exercises can be done with little to no effort.

In the middle of the day try to remember what you ate for lunch last week or what you had for breakfast this morning. If you really want to challenge yourself you can leave yourself posted-notes around the house. Leave one on Monday, bearing a secret password. On Saturday try to remember what you wrote down and then go back to the note and see if you got it right.

When you are trying to increase brain power keep in mind that the success of failure of your actions depends solely on your drive and determination. If you don’t stick with the plans and efforts you set out for yourself you won’t find much progress is made.

Many people find that they are best able to increase the limits of their mind by doing a handful of mini exercises daily as opposed to sitting down and crunching a ton of information at once. This means that a few minutes a day, a couple hours a week can have a greater impact on your cognitive abilities than large-scale memorization and information grinding.

It is highly suggested that you work your mind much like you’d work a muscle. Give it time to recuperate after you’ve given it a good pounding and always stretch before you go at it for the long road.

Ginseng Can Help Alertness

You’ve doubtlessly heard that certain foods and herbs can help the function of your brain. There is a constant stream of advice out there that tells you that one vegetable can help you with one problem while another one can help you with another. Sometimes it’s hard to know what can really help so I will tell you what works for me, personally.

They say that fish and various sea foods encourages the brain to work hard. personally, I’ve never found that to be true. There have been studies on Omega-acids that points to this and I would encourage anyone who is seeking to better themselves to try this in the form of a supplement.

Ginseng can be found in some kind of teas, as a ground powder, and if you’re real lucky it can be found in your local whole foods store whole and untampered with. Ginseng is one of the few things that I can say without a doubt helps me when I feel like it’s going to be one of those days. It had a natural “pick me up” quality that lends you energy and offers to clear up some of the gunk in your mind.

Ginkgo can also be found in powder form or in local whole foods stores. Mostly I use this herb when I have to retain a great deal of information and I’m having trouble keeping it all in. I prefer to take both ginkgo and ginseng as natural powders that I mix with something tasty that I cook for dinner.

Keep in mind, as always, that when you use herbal supplements it may take you some time to get the dosage that is right for you. I would strongly, strongly recommend that you start with a dosage as small as a teaspoon before you try anything more adventurous. Most herbal remedies will not harm you, but I would still never try too much as once.

If you have any kind of illness, any at all, speak to your doctor before you try to supplement with any kind of herbs.

Improving Brain Function

Wouldn’t you like to be a faster thinker? Wouldn’t you like to solve crossword puzzles quicker, or figure out complex math problems in a shorter amount of time? You may not be able to transform yourself into another Einstein, but improving your brain function is not impossible.

In fact, you can keep yourself mentally sharp with just a few brain exercises. The good news is that improving brain function can be fun.

First of all, turn off that television. Nothing dims your mental faculties like sitting mindlessly around the TV set for hours at a time. Of course, TV is fine in moderation. But why not replace some of your viewing time with a good book? Reading requires more imagination and thought, sure to improve how your brain functions.

Be sure, too, to challenge your brain. Like all muscles, brains get flabby without regular exercise. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to pump up your brain.

Do you have children in elementary or middle school? Helping them with their homework is a good method for improving brain function. You might be surprised by the complexity of your elementary school child’s math homework. There might be plenty there to challenge your own brain.

Crossword puzzles, word-find puzzles and sudoku are great ways to challenge your brain. Just make sure to tackle puzzles that are appropriate for your skill level. Trying to complete an expert-level crossword puzzle might actually do more to frustrate your brain than it will to give it a boost.

Exercising regularly is another way to improve your brain function. A healthy body is important for the kind of critical thinking performed by a well-functioning brain. Eating the right foods – those high in vitamins and low in bad fats and sugars – is also important when you’re trying to improve how your brain functions.

Finally, don’t forget to get enough sleep. Too many of us are overworked, which causes us to skimp on the amount of sleep we allow ourselves. A lack of sleep results in muddled thinking. It’s impossible to improve your brain function if you’re not sleeping enough hours every night.

Improving brain function is far from an impossible, or overly difficult, task. It just takes a bit of time, effort and creativity.

Ways to Improve Memory

Memory is the mental activity to retrieve and recall information that you have learned or experienced. While most people have an outstanding ability to remember past life experiences and small facts, others have a difficulty remembering things as simple as the color of the shirt they wore yesterday.

Memory loss can result from severe injury, illness, or from high stress levels. Everyone has the ability to recall information they have either learned from experience or from classes they took in school. However the stress of work, of being in a relationship and/or school can cause people to temporarily forget things, such as important birthdays, meetings or even things they have wrote on their to-do-list.

A gentle reminder will usually jog your memory. Unfortunately in this self-centered world, there are not many people who will go out of their way to remind you of important meetings or events.

There are ways you can improve your memory, even amidst your busy life schedule. The more you work your brain, the better you will be able to process and remember information. First of all, pay attention to instructions and lessons.

It is impossible to remember something if you never learned it. Do not multitask when you are supposed to be listening to a message as you will distract very easily. The best advice is to find a quite place where you can study or listen to a tape recorded lesson. That way you will not be interrupted.

Tailor information to fit your learning style. If you are a great visual learner, but not the greatest listener, record speeches or lessons on a notepad and later organize your notes in order of sub-topic discussed.

Read out loud what you have learned or narrate the information to your parents or spouse. This will help you learn key important information quickly. Rehearsing the information, will also enable you to process and remember the information.

Relate information to what you already know. This can be a matter of connecting the new information to older information in a meaningful way. If the material is complex, learn and master the basics first before you tackle that harder material. In mathematics, students are taught information and problem solving skills in order from easiest to hardest.

Learning the basics first will help you remember them when you come to the more difficult tasks.
Most importantly, always keep a positive attitude and be motivated. Tell yourself that you want to learn, that you need to learn and the information is important for you to learn.

Always give yourself encouragement, especially when you think the lesson is too challenging. Remember, you can learn anything when you put your mind to it.
